Duties
The Engineering Department oversees the administration, design, construction, inspection and replacement of the City’s infrastructure, including transportation, utility and flood control projects associated with the redevelopment of aging City infrastructure and new development. The Engineering Department is responsible for the following divisions:
- Curb, Gutter, Sidewalk or Driveway
- Engineering Services
- GIS/Mapping
- Flood Control/Floodplain Management
- Project Design and Construction
- Traffic Engineering
The Engineering Department is also responsible for requests before the following Boards/Commissions:
Public Input Meeting Notice
8th Ave SE, 10th Ave SE, 16th St SE and 17th St SE Reconstruction Project
A Public Input Meeting will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on December 12th, 2023, at the City Hall Commission Chambers at the City of Devils Lake, 423 6th St NE, Devils Lake, ND 58301. The Public Input Meeting will utilize an open house format. A virtual (pre-recorded) presentation and other materials are available below. The purpose of the Public Input Meeting is to discuss a proposed road reconstruction project along 8th Avenue SE from 11th Street SE to 17th Street SE; 10th Avenue SE from 15th Street SE to 17th Street SE; 16th Street SE from 10th Avenue SE to 17th Street SE; and 17th Street SE from 8th Avenue SE to the U.S Highway 2 junction, in Devils Lake. The Public Input Meeting will provide opportunity for public input. Representatives from the City of Devils Lake and KLJ Engineering will be present to answer your questions and discuss your concerns.

Capital Improvement Plan
The Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) is developed to help identify and prioritize the needs for construction of capital improvement projects, specifically related to the City's infrastructure, based on financial projections and available revenue sources. Projects included can be changed by City Commission reconsideration, availability of funding, infrastructure priorities and ability to manage/implement project.
