Accessible Fishing Piers

The dramatic lake level rise of Devils Lake from 1993 to 2011 flooded many public access points to the lake. The need to raise roads, flood protection dikes, and protect the shoreline with erosion control rocks (rip rap) left very limited access for anglers who were not physically capable of traversing rip rap in order to fish.

Accessible fishing piers have now been located at Channel A Henegar Landing and East Ditch. The goal of these projects was to provide accessible shoreline fishing opportunities for elderly and physically challenged anglers, sportsmen and those who love the outdoors. A special thank you to the ND Outdoor Heritage Fund and other project sponsors for making this project a reality.

If you have any questions about the fishing piers, contact the City Engineering Department at 701-662-7600, ext. 2.

A huge addition to the East Ditch fishing pier area is the brand new, colorful playground equipment. Purchase of the playground equipment was made possible by grant monies from Garrison Diversion, Outdoor Heritage Fund, and a number of other local sponsors.
